Why did Kemwell decide to invest in Stockholm?
“The reason was simple and obvious, we have clients that have requested production in Europe, and we already have an existing contract manufacturing facility here. We can see synergies from the existing production into the new facility, so we will now double our production area to 31,000 square meters. Kemwell is also in a very exciting expansion phase, in Sweden as well as in India. The Stockholm region is perfect for us to grow in.”
What reasons helped to make the decision?
“Our clients want to grow with us in Europe and worldwide. We found that by being in the Stockholm region, we could take advantage of the existing facility, new production technologies, and expand our production in solid and semi-solid products. This makes it possible to grow in other areas as well, and at the same time it allows us to work with cost reduction. This is our second pharmaceutical production center in Sweden, which makes it possible for Kemwell to optimize further expansion.”
Does KEMWELL have any specific collaboration currently underway in the Stockholm region?
“Kemwell produces pharmaceuticals for five of the ten largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. We are working on a number of projects with domestic and international companies that will help us to expand our business. We are working with companies in the Stockholm region as well.”
How would KEMWELL describe Stockholm as a place for investments and establishments?
“The Stockholm-Uppsala region has a good business climate, is a high competence area with great networking possibilities and the industry has also invested considerable money in pharma production. There is also an attractive and well -substantiated infrastructure in the region. That is an advantage for us because of the distribution needs we have for the pharma industry worldwide, as we are approved by the USFDA, EMEA and Japanese authorities. The Stockholm-Uppsala life science cluster is very important for the growth of the pharmaceutical industry in Sweden and the Nordic countries, and we are looking forward to growing within the pharma area in Stockholm-Uppsala. It is important for our company to be here.”
